Many companies have made money by promoting their products online via large online auction pages, or classified ad web sites. Ebay has millions of registered users as does Amazon.com, and Craigslist, just to name a few.
Ebay is running a special “FREE to list Auction-style, any start price, June 29-July 12″ so why not take advantage of it. What this means is that any product can be listed for sale on Ebay and the seller will not be charged any fees unless the product sells. When the product sells, the seller pays a small percentage of the selling price.
Ebay also offers a new service “FREE classified ads”, or Craigslist.org offers free local classified ads. Craigslist and Ebay are both great for backlinks back to the company web site to increase the popularity of the web site.
The advantages to selling your products using Ebay, Craigslist, Amazon and other popular ecommerce web sites is two fold. First, listing the product exposes the product to be sold, which is the obvious reason. The second reason is not so obvious; it creates a backlink to the company web site that increases the popularity of the company web site. The more popular the web site the higher the page ranks when someone searches for that particular product.
Most major auction sites and classified ad sites are search engine friendly, thus having your product in their catalog will rank on the first page of the search engine faster than promoting the product on the company web site or even blogs for that matter. Not that this should be done as well.
The easiest way to get started selling products on the internet is not by creating your own ecommerce site, but to list the products for sale on large auction or classifieds ad sites. It is inexpensive and very effective. The best part about selling products on an online auction site, is that you can expect immediate results.
