According to Laurie Kahn, founder/CEO of Media Staffing Network, consolidation and multi-platform selling in the media industry created more opportunities and needs for talent with varied backgrounds and expertise. There was no media-specific site where professionals could converge to view opportunities across all platforms. The new site makes it easier for employers to reach a larger audience and gives job seekers a wider variety of jobs to view.
The job board allows media companies to post jobs for free, but does not allow job seekers to post resumes due to confidentiality. Many passive job seekers are afraid to visit job sites on which it is required to register or post a resume.
Job seekers do have the ability to enter a database where they can be contacted confidentially if a job search arises that matches their qualifications. The choice is theirs on whether to pursue the position or not. Job seekers contact the hiring managers directly for any posted jobs.
In addition to the job board, there are numerous free tools to assist both the employer and job seeker including resume and job description templates, interview questions, tips, etc. designed to make the hiring process simpler and more effective for all involved.
