Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster, defending his own site’s attempts to deal with inappropriate ads, has pointed the finger at sex ads on a site run by a Spanish subsidiary of eBay Inc. as being far worse than anything his site has run.
Buckmaster is apparently unhappy that eBay is considered a family friendly service while Craigslist has a shadier reputation. The online classified service has been the subject of much criticism for sex ads, including attacks made by a candidate for governor in South Carolina.

Buckmaster pointed in his criticism to graphic pictures of sexual acts on the eBay subsidiary Loquo and said that eBay aggressively markets to these listers, effectively taking part in the transactions.
TechCrunch reported on Tuesday that San Jose-based eBay has made it more difficult for U.S.-based users to access Loquo since Buckmaster’s comments, but the ads he cites are still accessible elsewhere or by using sites that hide the fact that a user is in the U.S.
