Newspaper to Offer Free ‘Work Wanted’ Ad

Members of Pontchartrain Newspapers, including St. Tammany News, L’Observateur in LaPlace and The Daily News in Bogalusa, will provide free classifieds to persons seeking employment.

“When someone loses their job, they have other financial concerns other than how to let employers know they need work,” said Pontchartain Newspapers President j. Kennon. “This is a commitment from our newspapers to the communities they serve and their neighbors.”

Kennon said publishers of the newspapers were quick to join in to try and help others.

“These are tough times in a lot of industry segments,” Kennon said. “In many instances, well-qualified and long-tenured employees are finding themselves out of a job through no fault of their own, and there is nothing they can do about it. We want to try and help them connect with those employers who are looking for help.”

Free “Employment Wanted” ads will be included in both the regular newspapers as well as the total market coverage products in all markets served by the newspapers.

Persons utilizing the free service are asked to be brief but include basic skills, years of experience and contact name and information. The newspapers reserve the right to edit or reject ads unsuitable for publication.

The ads are limited to persons who have lost their jobs and are not intended for self-employed persons.

Persons wanting to place an employment wanted ad should call 1-877-737-8577 or stop by the St. Tammany News office in Covington or Slidell.
